I Feel the Love

Have you ever heard of the "I Feel the Love Project"? A fellow CWC designer, Madison, has an amazing project every month where she finds a family or person in need of some cheer.  This month, a sweet little girl, Trinitie, found out that she has a brain tumor.  I can't even imagine....oh man, so tough...This little girl melted my heart....

So here's the card I made for her....I really hope she likes it!

Here's the inside.... I used Getting Cricky Stamps.

I really hope this card helps to cheer her up!

Smiles,

Jill

Spring Day with the Kiddos!

Have you been sick recently? Oh man, if you haven't, lucky you! If so, I feel your pain!  I got this awful flu bug and it seemed to sweep across our whole family and then come back again! Argh! I do believe though, that I'm on the up and up! Finally!

Since I was finally feeling better, the kiddos and I had a Spring Day!

First we read books about Spring....one in particular that is my favorite....

Bear Wants More, Board Book -
        By: Karma Wilson, Jane Chapman

We also read a book that I printed off and then we colored (you can print in color or black and white).
They have many other books and activities for kids...

Then we talked about Spring and what we have started to see outside.... bird nests, flowers, green grass, etc...

After we talked about Spring, we went outside and did some fun Spring activities.
We planted seeds in pots.....but the most fun was...........

DECORATING BIRDHOUSES!!!!!!!!!!

My son LOVES birds. He chases them in our yard and tries to catch them.  You may remember the birdhouses I decorated. If not, you can check them out here. Anyways, when I decorated those birdhouses I knew that my son would LOVE it, so I saved some for him to decorate.

He loved it...to say the least! Look at that grin!

Look at the concentration! Next Picasso..what do you think? ha!

Super easy and fun...

Supplies:
-wooden birdhouses (I got mine from Michael's for .50 cents)
-acrylic paint
- foam brush

Just paint...go for it!  Enjoy!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine!

Smiles,

Jill

It's Overflowing Egg Hunt

Hello, everyone! I participated in an Egg Hunt over at It's Overflowing. Just in case you didn't get to participate, here is my egg design I came up with......

Get ready for the easiest way to decorate an egg in the history of time...ha! No, but seriously, it is really easy!

Your supplies: acrylic paint, an egg (I used a real one, if you don't like using real eggs then you could always use a wooden one) glue gun, foam brush

1. Make sure the glue gun is nice and heated before you start.
2. Use the glue gun to "write" a shape, word, or whatever you would like on the egg
3. Wait until the glue dries...it should only take about a minute. Then paint over glue and inside the shape if you wish.
4. Allow paint to dry
5. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!
Have an "EGG-STRA" special day!

Smiles,

Jill

A little Friday Fun!

I have a little Friday Fun for you.....

hahaha! I was laughing today because as I was commenting on blogs everyone is so polite and says, "Thank you for your sweet comments they make my day"....(I say that too! It's so true right?) So, I thought of this printable!  Enjoy!

If you've never downloaded a printable follow these directions.....ENJOY!
You will be brought to Photobucket. You will not see the word "File" but if you take your mouse to the upper left hand corner of the printable, you will see it. Go to File then a drop down menu will pop up and go to download! There you have it! Now you can download and print away! Also, when in doubt, just right click right on the image and click "Save As". Then you can save the printable to your computer.  My printer allows me to print at different sizes like 8X10 and 5X7 along with the quantity to be printed off! Let me know if you have any questions because I was a lost puppy when it came to printables at first!

CWC #78 Spring Song Challenge

When thinking of a Spring song I immediately think of... "You are my Sunshine".......my son and I sing this song together all the time.

I created this card for my friend for her birthday! Whenever we hang out it's like a breath of fresh air! She's a sunny delight to be with.  She also has a modern style so I incorporated that into the design by using a transparency sheet as the base of the card.  I used my Cricut and Plantin Schoolbook to cut out the circle. I cut it out at 3".  I used a large scallop punch to punch out of the sun.

I stamped on the inside of the sun scallop:

"You are Awesome"!

For the sun rays, I sliced up bits of paper and then just used my ATG gun to stick them down.

There you have it! That's how I created my card!

Here is the Spring Song I chose...."You are my sunshine"....I never knew anything but the chorus....there's more....ha!   Enjoy!

Smiles,

Jill

Spring Topiary Video

I've had a blast making spring decorations and  different topiarys. You can check out a different topiary (meaning different than the one I'm going to show you how to make today)  here, my spring door decoration here, and my birdhouses here. It's like I have Spring Crafting fever or something...ha...let's be honest...I always have crafting fever!  I'm so excited to introduce my second tutorial! I got such a great response from my first video that we're onto number two!

HOW TO MAKE A SPRING TOPIARY

A couple little side notes for you after watching the video...
-Cricut Cartridge Straight from the Nest p. 53 layer/shadow is the flower I used at 1 inch (not 1 inches..ha! my dad was laughing at me about that!)

-I also hit autofill before cutting the flowers

- If you don't have a cricut or the Straight From the Nest cartridge, I found a paper punch at JoAnn's online that is the same exact flower I used and guess what?...It's on sale right now for $5.99 here it is:

...this is what the packaging looks like and this is the color

I hope I was able to teach you or inspire you today!

Smiles,

Jill

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yesterday, my son and I had a blast making St. Patrick's Day shirts.  I made my daughter's and my son made his own.  I've seen green pepper prints done before and actually, just recently on I heart naptime, where they made them on paper.  So, I started thinking..."Why don't we use fabric paint and make t-shirts!" Yay! So here they are...

I added a stem and the word "Lucky" to my daughter's.
My son decided to just go for it and he stamped all over his shirt.
It really turned out so CUTE!

Here are the supplies we used: Green pepper, fabric paint, and a tshirt

So easy to make, just dip the green pepper into paint, and stamp away! Allow it to dry. After its done drying, put a light cloth (such as a dish towel) over it, and use an iron to go over the area you painted. That heat seals it. You're done! Enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Smiles,

Jill

Share a Smile

Ever since I was little I have loved anything to do with smiles. I even used to collect smiley buttons.  Hence, after each post on my blog here, I sign off by saying "Smiles, Jill".  It absolutely breaks my heart to know that there are children out there that aren't able to have a smile. Thanks to an organization called Operation Smile children around the world are able to smile! You have got to watch the video below..it's only 2 minutes.. it's very powerful! ...I was crying in those two minutes, you guys...

What did you think? Powerful right?
I'm extra excited to tell you that I'm involved in a collaborative bloggers' project call the ShareASmile Project. We are helping to raise funds for Operation Smile.

Through the ShareASmile Project, we're having a Smile-A-Thon! We're photographing smileys we see everywhere around us and uploading them to the Spontaneous Smiley website.
Spontaneous Smiley donates $1 to Operation Smile for every photo uploaded!

Each surgery to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the world only costs $240 through Operation Smile.

Helping Operation Smile is easier than you'd think-and lots of fun! Here's what you can do:

1. Look for spontaneous smileys, photograph them, and upload the photos to the Spontaneous Smiley website. Include in the "who are you" section the words "ELIZABETH SENT ME".

Here are some examples of spontaneous smileys

Spontaneous Smileys

Here is my first spontaneous smile...

....I know, I know...it looks staged..but it's totally not! My 2 year old son was coloring, I was busy doing something...I looked down and there it was a spontaneous smile! I asked him what he made and he said, "Circles". He had no idea that he had just made a smiley! I guess the crayons were happy to be used!

2.  Sponsor one of our bloggers. As in a walk-a-thon, we’re collecting pledges of any amount per photo we collect and upload. You may contact me or comment below with a pledge amount if you’re interested in participating in this way.

3.  Print off sponsor sheets and collect your own pledges.
You could even try this with a local group (school project, art class, kids’ club, Scouts, etc.). You’ll find all the information you need to collect your own pledges here.
4.  Donate directly to Operation Smile here.
If you’re a blogger, it would be awesome if you’d like to join us in the ShareASmile Project! Please feel free to post the button on your blog and join us for the next 14 days of sharing spontaneous smileys!
In addition to the Smile-A-Thon, we’re raising awareness for Operation Smile and Spontaneous Smileys in several other ways, too!
There will be giveaways from now until the 31st! These giveaways are from ShareASmile Contributing Bloggers who are generously donating something related to their ShareASmile project.
Be sure to check out the ShareASmile giveaways.

Patches of Pink Spring Themed Project

Jalisa at Patches of Pink asked the design team to come up with a Spring themed project. I LOVE spring colors! I also have been in love with pedestals lately. You might remember the candy jars I created that were vases on pedestals. If not, you can check them out here. Therefore, I decided to create birdhouses and yes, you guessed it on pedestals!

Supplies:
wooden birdhouses (I found at the $1 section at Michaels), acrylic paint, glass candlesticks (found at the $ store)

How to:
1. Spray paint candlesticks (they may need a couple of coats). Allow them to dry
2. Paint birdhouses
3. I will be using the candlesticks for other decorations so I didn't glue them on but if you would like them to be stuck on the candlesticks then use E6000 to stick them on.
4. Enjoy!

I hope you link up with us over at Patches of Pink. You have until April 1st!

Have a Super day!

Smiles,

Jill
